Principal's Message

We have had a vibrant and eventful fortnight at Lakes Entrance Secondary College. Our Halloween celebrations brought a wonderful sense of fun and creativity to the school, with many students going to great effort with their costumes. I would like to thank our staff and student leaders for supporting the day and offer a special thank you to Mr Dooley and Ms Reed for coordinating decorations, face painting, pumpkin tossing, Halloween trivia and the best dressed competition. Their work helped create a safe, inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

I hope all students enjoyed the long weekend and were able to spend quality time with family and friends while also taking the opportunity to rest and recharge. I managed to get out on the boat myself on the Saturday and even came home with a feed, so I certainly made the most of the break!

Our Year 12 students currently completing their final exams are doing the school proud. The positive attitude, focus and resilience they are showing reflects their commitment to finishing well. There are only a few exams left now, so I encourage students to continue preparing thoughtfully and supporting one another.

Next week, our Year 11 VCE students will begin their exams. These are an important opportunity to build confidence and develop strong study routines ahead of Year 12. Our Year 11 VCE-VM students will continue with classes as normal as they wrap up their 2025 courses. This leads into our Headstart Program in Weeks 7 and 8, where both our 2026 Year 12 VCE and VCE-VM students will begin their learning programs for next year. An effective Headstart significantly reduces time pressure during the year ahead and helps set students up for success by ensuring they begin next year with clarity, momentum and a strong foundation.

Our recent Enrolment BBQ for our 2026 Year 7 students was a great success. It was a pleasure to meet many of our future students and their families. Thank you to Ms Woods for her excellent planning and organisation, and to Mr Dooley and Mr Mehes for ensuring everyone was well fed at the BBQ. We are excited to welcome this new group into our school community.

Finally, I want to reinforce the importance of regular attendance. Every day of learning matters. Missing just one day per fortnight over the course of 13 years of schooling adds up to more than a year of lost learning. We appreciate the support of families in helping students arrive on time, ready to learn and engaged every day.

Thank you for your ongoing support of our school community.
