Year 7 Camp Cave Hill Creek Camp Report

The Year 7 Camp at Cave Hill Creek was an unforgettable adventure filled with fun, laughter, and lasting memories. Students and staff embraced the spirit of the great outdoors, embracing a wide range of exciting activities that challenged, inspired, and entertained.

From the moment we arrived, the energy was high. Students took on the kayaking challenge with enthusiasm, paddling across the lake and learning new skills along the way. A few staff and students capsized but we won't mention any names! The abseiling challenge pushed everyone out of their comfort zones, especially with the hike to the large abseiling rock, while the obstacle course brought out teamwork, encouragement, and a record breaking pace.

At night, we ventured into the bush for a night walk, taking in the peaceful sounds of nature under a canopy of stars. One of the highlights was gathering around the campfire to toast marshmallows, reflecting on the day, and simply enjoying the warm glow with our peers.

The thrills didn’t stop there—our brave campers tackled the famed possum glider giant swing and the vertical challenge, testing their courage and cheering each other on every step of the way.

No camp experience is complete without great food, and Cave Hill Creek certainly delivered. The meals were absolutely delicious, keeping everyone fuelled and happy throughout the trip.

To top it all off, our Trivia Night was a smash hit. The room lit up with singing, dancing, and plenty of laughter, especially when our camp theme songs 'Mr Brightside' and 'Pink Pony Club' played loudly. The singing continued on the bus all the way home from Ballarat to Lara.

The Cave Hill Creek camp brought the Year 7 group closer together, creating friendships and memories that will last well beyond the school year. A big thank you to the staff who made it all possible — and to every student who brought their energy, positivity, and sense of adventure. We are proud of you for living our values at Camp and we can’t wait for the next one!
