School Council meeting 24th February 2025
School Council met on 24th February 2025. Jarrod thanked School Council members who have their 2 year terms concluding in March, in particular Brian Stanley who has fulfilled the role of President for the past 4 years. Brian is stepping down as President and will chair his final meeting in March. Jarrod noted in particular how visible Brian has been at school events during his time in this role.
A strong interest in school tours for future students was noted, with a keen interest shown in the outcome of the capital works program by those in attendance.
The Resources Committee shared their review of the school financial reports for December and January, and recommended a date for the movie night as part of fundraising efforts. The council also discussed the terms of agreements for external providers of services to students in the school, including music, chess, and dance.
The Community Engagement and Partnerships committee reported a number of improvements in the way information is shared through parent reps (including digital collection of approval), and improvements to how the committee meets and operates (including meeting alternative days of the week to account for parent reps who have fixed work days). Positive feedback was received regarding the welcome morning tea for new parents to the school, which was particularly pleasing given this is a new initiative.
School council members reflected on their own effectiveness by collectively working through a self-assessment process, and through this process identified and committed to areas of potential improvement.
- For anybody who'd like to attend a school council meeting, you are very welcome to come and observe. Just contact Sandra or Jarrod for more detail.
