Life in the LRC

An artist in residence!

The library is always supporting and promoting whole school events and curriculum-based activities. We are also keen to highlight the achievements and talents of our whole school community, staff and students included.

Food tech Assistant, Veronica (Roni) Seruni, who has now been at the school for 6 years, is also a mother of two and a part-time Tertiary student.  She has just finished an Undergraduate Certificate in Fine Arts at Curtin University WA (online) and is now continuing with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with the same uni.  She is also starting her Master of Teaching (Secondary) at Deakin University.  Prior to having children, she completed Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) at RMIT and Master of Commerce (Accounting) at Deakin Uni.

She is a keen photographer with an interest in taking photos of nature, and she has been doing this for about 10 years. Her style of photography is self-described as moody. She tries to capture the spirit of nature.

Her long-term plans at the college are to become a teacher, especially in the Mathematics or Indonesian language space, hence the Master of Teaching study.

Realising her many talents, Roni was approached to create some artwork to enhance our library space. Wanting to contribute to the aesthetic of the school, she was only too happy to oblige.

If you look closely, you will see that each of the four canvases are illustration interpretations of House Flora symbols, painted on to pages of old books. They are indigenous plants found locally on Wurundjeri Land and important to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Her inspiration came from browsing through the Heathmont College website for designs i.e. motifs and colours and coming across the indigenous logos for each house.
