Learning Never Stops!

I would like to thank all of our students, staff and families for allowing me the opportunity to attend the Victorian Principals Conference in Melbourne recently. It was a fantastic few days of learning, listening and reflecting, with a number of inspiring speakers sharing their insights into leadership, school improvement and the future of education.

Back at school, our staff have also been busy learning. Over the past few weeks, we have been spending time building our understanding of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM 2.0) and strengthening our knowledge of explicit teaching practices.

A particular focus has been exploring the work of Michael Rosenbrock and the impact that explicit teaching can have on student learning. Explicit teaching is about making learning clear, purposeful and visible for students. It means students know exactly what they are learning, why they are learning it and what success looks like. It also ensures teachers carefully model, guide and support learning before students apply new skills independently.

These ideas align strongly with the direction we are taking at Cowwarr. We want every lesson to be purposeful, engaging and provide students with the best opportunity to be successful. Through professional learning, collaboration and reflection, our staff continue to refine their practice and build a shared understanding of what great teaching looks like.

One thing I love about education is that learning never stops. Just as we encourage our students to challenge themselves and keep growing, our staff are continually learning too. The willingness of our team to engage in professional learning, reflect on practice and embrace new ideas is something I am incredibly proud of. It is this commitment that helps ensure we continue to provide the very best learning opportunities for every child at Cowwarr.

After all, learning is something we do together, and it is a perfect example of our TEAM motto: Together Everyone Achieves More.
