Fashion Show on a Rainy Day!
On Tuesday, it was a wet day timetable and so that meant the whole day inside...
However, our Cowwarr kids are very innovative and decided to have fashion show. Each walk had a different genre (colour, animal, work wear etc) and the students used our dress ups to create their outfits. This was definitely the highlight of my week! The music, the fashion, the struts... I don't think there was anyone not smiling or laughing the entire time.
DOXA Camp 2026
Camp is fast approaching! Much like it's closeness, the camp itself is VERY fast. I have had a lot of questions from students these past few days about the 'ins and outs' of the program so I thought I would answer them here in case parents/guardians were also wondering.
Do we get time for technology or any down time?
No. We leave our hotel at 8:30am and return just before 8:30pm. This means we are out and about for almost 12 hours. Apart from lunch breaks, we don't have any other time to sit and rest during the day.
What if we see someone get angry or do something inappropriate at the station?
Firstly, all the adults are there to keep you safe. That is our job. However, we can not control how other people act in public. We are constantly moving and so I can assure you that we won't be staying in a place where we might see that behaviour for a long period of time. If you feel scared or worried, tell an adult so that we can help you.
What happens if we get lost or miss a train?
Everyone will be wearing coloured vests. This is not optional. The adults need to see all the children in public. Before we get on and off transport, we count all of you to make sure you are there. When we walk around, there is always an adult at the front, the middle and the back of the group to make sure no one wonders off or misses a turn.
What if I don't like the activity, can I just not go?
All activities are compulsory, you are there to enjoy the camp experience. There are no adults staying at the hotel during the day. We can not stop and wait for people that refuse to participate. That is a DOXA rule we need to follow.
Who will be in my group? Will I have someone I know?
Miss. Johns and I will try our very best to make sure there is a familiar face in your group but there are other schools/teachers/students that also need to be considered. Things may change at the last minute and we will need to be flexible.
Please keep an eye out on Compass for further information in the coming weeks!
Maffra Transition Days
I will be accomanying the Grade 6 students who will be attending Maffra Secondary College in 2027 on these dates. There will be additional times throughout next semester too. Transport will be organised through the school.
