Science & Engineering

On Tuesday 26 May, a group of Year 9 and 10 students travelled to Marist Regional College to participate in the Science and Engineering Challenge, competing against six other schools from across the North West Coast.
Throughout the day, students worked in small teams to complete a variety of engineering, design, and problem-solving challenges. These included constructing a glider, mechanical hand, wind turbine, bridge, and an Echo Habitech model, as well as tackling problem-solving activities involving electricity, communications, and fish trap design.
Each challenge required students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and work within strict time and material constraints. Their creativity, teamwork, and perseverance were tested throughout the competition.
At the halfway point, Leighland Christian School was sitting in sixth place. However, thanks to a strong finish across the remaining challenges, our students made an impressive comeback to secure third place overall.
Congratulations to all students involved for their outstanding effort, teamwork, and representation of the school. They should be very proud of their achievement.
