Kinder Excursion to the Arboretum

Kinder students got to participate in so many fun activities a few weeks ago! The fun began with the bus ride, a first for many students. Then we planted succulents and daffodil bulbs with the Devonport gardening society. Next we learnt about birds and went on a bird watching walk. We saw three wedge tailed eagles, some blue wrens and a grey wagtail. We saw a dinosaur tree called the monkey puzzle tree! We also planted a tree!
After lunch we saw a Maiden Hair tree with beautiful yellow leaves and another dinosaur tree called a Wollemi Pine. Then we balanced across the stepping stones! Everyone was very brave, even when it was a bit scary crossing the water. We looked for platypus around the lake and saw four different ones! On the way back we found a beautiful pile of leaves that we got to play in. Some Kinder's rolled in them, others threw them in the air and others tried to find the prettiest leaves. It was so much fun. Before getting back on the bus we found two little burrowing crayfish chimneys in the mud by the creek!
A big thank you to our parent helpers, to Virginia and both Phil's from the Arboretum and to the Devonport Gardening Society, we couldn't have done it without you!
