Grade 3/4/5

Over the past few weeks in Years 3/4/5, we have begun exploring our new class text, Finding Our Heart: A Book About the Uluru Statement. Through this text, students have been developing their understanding of Australia's history, culture, and the significance of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. Students have been learning to identify and correct run-on sentences, helping them to improve the clarity and structure of their writing. They have also been developing their summarising skills by identifying key information and condensing paragraphs into concise summaries, strengthening both their reading comprehension and writing abilities.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring probability and data. Students have been learning to collect, organise, and interpret data using a variety of graphs and displays. They have also investigated chance events, using probability language such as certain, likely, unlikely, and impossible to describe outcomes. Through hands-on activities and investigations, students have developed their ability to analyse data, make predictions, and explain their mathematical thinking.
In Humanities, we have continued to explore the history and culture of First Nations Peoples and have begun learning about the arrival of the First Fleet. Students have examined different perspectives on these significant events and developed their understanding of how the arrival of Europeans impacted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
