Grade Prep/1/2

We have all enjoyed having Mr. Barker back from leave and teaching in the Junior Class, the students have enjoyed showing off their knowledge, skills and routines.
Ms. Eales has headed off on Long Service Leave to travel the NT with her family, she will return week 2 Term 3. While she is away, casual teaching staff will cover her lessons including Mrs. Parker who they know well from PE lessons this term. Mrs. Richardson and Ms. Eales have completed this classes semester reports, and these will be published via Compass on the last day of school after moderation and final reviews have been completed.
Please remember to return your Imagine Live consent forms next week. The students will be travelling to the PAC via bus to watch a performance of Alison Lesters beautiful book 'Imagine'.
Students have been studying a fractured fairytale the past fortnight, exploring 'Honestly, Little Red was rotten' - Little Red Riding hood from the point of view of the Wolf! They have explored humour, onomatopoeia and character traits.
In Numeracy, students have started to explore measurement, with informal units of measurement being used to compare lengths of different objects. This has been great hands on learning that all students have been able to participate in.
We discussed the hardest part about coming to school in our morning circle, and many students identified 'getting ready' as the hardest thing. So, we talked about routines, and what a morning routine might look like and how it can help them to make their mornings easier. We created a routine, and each student got a copy of it made into a visual schedule to take home and use if they wish.
From Mr Barker
Hello everyone! It has been great being back and settling back in to teaching your children. I am blessed to have felt so welcomed back by students, parents and staff.
In our English block we have been continuing our work on "Honestly, Red Riding Hood was rotten!" by looking at elements such as Onomatopoeia and the point of view of characters.
In Maths we have been investigating measurement. Specifically, length, and identifying objects that are shorter and longer, as well as using informal units to measure objects. Students have also been willing to challenge themselves by using a rule to measure objects in centimetres.
