Senior School Update – Exams, GAT and Key Dates

As we approach the end of Semester One, we would like to share some important information regarding upcoming assessments, key dates, and ways families can support students during this busy period.

Year 10 & Year 11 Semester Exams

Year 10 and Year 11 students are currently completing their semester exams. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and prepare for future senior studies. We encourage students to continue revising, stay organised, and seek support from their teachers where needed.

How Parents, Guardians and Families Can Support Study at Home

Families play an important role in supporting students during exam periods. Some helpful strategies include:

  • Encouraging the development of a consistent study routine
  • Providing a quiet, organised space for study
  • Supporting students to break study into manageable chunks
  • Promoting regular breaks, healthy eating, and good sleep habits
  • Checking in regularly and encouraging a balanced approach to study and wellbeing

General Achievement Test (GAT)

The statewide GAT will take place on Tuesday 16 June. This assessment is an important part of the VCE and provides valuable data that supports fair and accurate assessment of student achievement. All students required to sit the GAT should ensure they are well rested and arrive prepared on the day.

Please note that this day will be a student free day for any Year 11 students not sitting the GAT and any Year 10 students who do not have a scheduled exam.

Looking Ahead – Semester Two Support

In Semester Two, we will introduce a lunchtime ‘catch-up’ session for students who need additional time to complete unfinished or unsubmitted work. This initiative aims to support both students and teachers in maintaining consistent progress and ensuring a full year of learning growth. Further details will be provided in Term 3.

Student Free Day

Please note that Friday 19 June is a student free day. Staff will be using this time for assessment correction and report writing.

Semester One Reports

Semester One academic reports will be released via PAM on the last day of term, Friday 26 June. We encourage parents and carers to take the time to review these reports with their child and celebrate progress while identifying areas for continued growth.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to support every student’s learning and success.
