We have started with beautiful weather and a great sense of purpose.
We are very pleased to welcome Mr Paul McMahon as our new Junior Sports Coordinator. Paul has hit the ground running and has already made a great start with the girls. It's been wonderful to the positive relationships being built in PE lessons from the very start.
On Friday, we held our Junior School ANZAC Assembly, giving the girls a chance to better understand the purpose and significance of ANZAC Day. It was a thoughtful and respectful occasion. Our Year 5 and 6 students will also have the opportunity to attend the Senior School ANZAC Assembly on Monday. Afterwards, they will be able to connect with the Year 7 students in the Mary Davis Centre for a hot drink and a cookie, which I am sure will be enjoyed by all!
We have also welcomed some new girls and their families this term, and it has been wonderful to see how quickly they have settled in. I have really enjoyed speaking with them, particularly those who have come from coeducational schools. Many have commented on the faster pace of classroom learning, as well as the way students are able to stay focused for extended periods of time. Just as importantly, they have spoken about how welcoming and inclusive the girls in their year levels have been. This reflects the strong and supportive culture we value at St Catherine’s.
The Senior and Middle Staff Leaders of Barbreck were also fortunate to tour the new Music School this week. It is exciting to see how the space is coming together, and there is a real sense of anticipation about what it will offer once it opens. It is getting closer to that day and we look forward to sharing more information about the opening.
Looking ahead, our Year 3 and 4 students head off to camp next week. With beautiful weather forecast, it should be a fantastic experience for all involved.
Wishing everyone a great term ahead.
