Dear Parents and Students,
This term has been absolutely jam-packed with activity, and I want to acknowledge how impressively our students have risen to every opportunity placed before them. Over the past ten weeks they have embraced exams, Battle of the Bands, Careers Expos, sporting events, Exhibition Nights, Reef and Rainforest trips, Work Experience, and so much more. Their energy, adaptability, and commitment have been outstanding.
We have also recently appointed three Year 10 students to the JMSS Parliament. We open applications mid‑year so students have time to understand the school before stepping into such an important decision‑making body. Parliament oversees the House Points System, the Diploma System, and provides student voice on school policies. My thanks to all who applied, and warm congratulations to our newly selected members:
Forward Planning
A few families have started booking trips at the end of the year, please be aware of the following key times for Year 10 and 11 students;
9th December 2027 Unit 3 Chemistry students’ Immersion Day
As we head into the holiday break, I’d like to gently remind everyone of the importance of looking after yourselves and each other. If you, or someone you know, are feeling overwhelmed or experiencing significant distress, please reach out to one of the support services listed below. Help is always available, and you are never alone.

I hope all staff and students enjoy a well‑earned break. I will be taking extended leave and look forward to returning to JMSS in November. I wish Mr Chris Mann all the very best as he steps into my role during this time, and I have every confidence he will do an outstanding job.
Regards,
Jeremy Mackinnon
