Eastern Metropolitan Region Cross Country

Last Thursday, 25 of our students proudly represented the school at the Regional Cross Country Championships held at Yarra Glen Racecourse.

Competing across the 3km and 5km events, our students embraced a challenging course that tested both their physical endurance and mental resilience. The course featured several steep hills and demanding sections, while our athletes in the 5km event also navigated a last-minute course change. Despite these challenges, students approached the day with determination, positivity, and outstanding sportsmanship. With favourable weather conditions throughout the event, it was a fantastic day of competition.

Our team achieved some excellent individual results, with three students finishing in the top 20 of their respective events:

Eliska van der Veen (Girls 16 Years 3000m) – 14th place
Will Glover (Boys 17-20 Years 5000m) – 17th place
Eloise Forster (Girls 16 Years 3000m) – 20th place

While these performances deserve special recognition, the day was a celebration of the efforts of all 25 students who represented our school. To qualify for regional competition is an achievement in itself, and every student should be commended for their commitment, perseverance, and willingness to challenge themselves against some of the strongest runners in the region.

Whether chasing a personal best, tackling the steep hills, adapting to unexpected course changes, or simply giving their all from start to finish, each competitor demonstrated the values of determination, resilience, and teamwork. Their conduct and support for one another throughout the day reflected positively on our school.

Congratulations to all students who competed. Your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm were on full display, and you represented our school with distinction. We look forward to celebrating your continued achievements in sport throughout the year.
