What a term it has been! The JMSS Music Program has had an incredibly busy and rewarding Term 2, and we couldn't be prouder of everything our students and staff have achieved together.
We were thrilled to see 45 JMSS musicians represent our school at the prestigious NEVR Youth Concert - Legends and Lore at Hamer Hall. Students performed across a range of ensembles as part of this premier North Eastern Region showcase - a truly memorable occasion for all involved. Congratulations to every student who took part; you represented JMSS with pride!
The ever-popular Battle of the Bands brought the school community together for another unforgettable evening of energy, creativity, and fun, before the term continued in style with our Winter Concert - a true celebration of everything the JMSS Music community has to offer. Shortly after our large event, our VCE musicians took centre stage across the Unit 3 and Unit 1 Soirées, delivering performances that reflected months of hard work and genuine musical commitment - a wonderful milestone for all involved
Congratulations to every student and staff member who contributed to making Term 2 such a success. It has been an absolute joy to witness.
Something to Look Forward To!
Our inspirational Music Captains, Isabel Lau and Daniel Feng, have been busy behind the scenes cooking up something very special for early Term 3. Their student-led event, An Air of Impressionism, will feature a student arrangement of some beloved Ravel classics - including what we're told will be a bolero-dly ambitious take on one of music's most iconic works - alongside some wonderful featured classical soloists. Keep an eye out for communications from Isabel and Daniel - this is one not to miss!
Looking Ahead - Term 3
We have another exciting term in store, with some wonderful events to look forward to:
- Music Camp – 6–8 August, Safety Beach, Dromana
- String Soirée No. 2 – Monday 11th August
- Concert Band at the Victorian School Music Festival – Thursday 20th August, Hawthorn Arts Centre
- Brass & Woodwind Soirée – Monday 17th August
Spring Concert – Thursday 3rd September
