Year 10 Work Experience:
Exploring Futures Beyond the Classroom
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, more than 120 Year 10 students stepped beyond the classroom and into the workplace for an exciting week of hands-on learning and career exploration.
Students completed work experience across a diverse range of industries, including VET clinics, allied health practices, dentistry offices, schools, engineering firms, the trades industry and retail. With such a wide variety of placements available, students had the opportunity to explore workplaces connected to their interests, strengths and possible future career pathways.
For many students, the week was about discovering what a particular career or industry is really like. Being immersed in a workplace allowed them to observe professionals, ask questions, develop an understanding of workplace expectations and experience the day-to-day realities of different occupations.
The experience also provided valuable opportunities for students to build confidence, communication and workplace skills. From interacting with customers and colleagues to following workplace procedures and taking on new responsibilities, students were able to put skills developed at school into practice in real-world settings.
Importantly, work experience encouraged students to think about their futures. Some students may have confirmed an interest in a particular career, while others may have discovered that an industry was not quite right for them. Both outcomes are valuable, helping students make more informed decisions about their subject choices, VET opportunities, further study and future careers.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Year 10 students embraced this opportunity. Their willingness to step into unfamiliar environments, learn from others and experience the world of work is an important part of preparing for life beyond school.

Year 12 History Excursion
On Tuesday 28 July, the Year 12 Modern History class had the opportunity to visit the Barr Smith Library at the University of Adelaide to receive an introduction to the wide range of historical resources available to university students and researchers.
During the visit, library staff led us on a guided tour of the library and demonstrated how to access historical collections, academic databases, and research materials. The excursion was particularly valuable as we write our Historical Studies this term. It helped us develop practical research skills and gave us greater confidence in using academic resources to support our historical inquiries.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the university librarians who led the tour and generously shared their knowledge and expertise. Their enthusiasm, guidance, and willingness to answer our research questions helped us better understand how to make effective use of the library's extensive collections.
Overall, the Barr Smith visit was engaging and worthwhile. Thanks to Library Coordinator Mrs Barnes, and our teacher Mr Thiele, for organising the excursion and making this valuable learning opportunity possible.
Year 12 History Students
SACSA Basketball
In Week 2, Endeavour sent four teams to compete in the SACSA Basketball Carnival across the Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 divisions, with plenty of success across both days. On Wednesday, the Year 7/8 teams were up first. The boys started the day with one draw and one loss from their opening two games, putting them into the 7th–9th playoff. They finished the day strongly, winning their final two games to finish 7th overall. The girls had an outstanding day, winning their first two games to progress to the championship pool. They comfortably won their third game before a close, three-point victory in their fourth game secured their place in the grand final. The final was a back-and-forth contest from start to finish, with the girls narrowly winning by one point to take home the championship!
The Year 9/10 teams were up next, competing on Thursday. After a close loss in their opening game, the boys bounced back with a win in their second game to progress to the championship pool. A big win followed by a close loss in the next round put them into the 3rd-place playoff. Unfortunately, they narrowly missed out, losing by just two points to finish 4th overall. Our Year 9/10 girls also had a strong day. After recording one win and one loss in their opening games, they progressed to the championship pool. A close win and a close loss by a combined margin of just six points put them into the 3rd-place playoff. The girls stepped up when it mattered most, securing the win and taking home the bronze medal. We are incredibly proud of all our basketballers and the way they represented Endeavour throughout the carnival. A massive thank you to all our staff and student coaches for their time, effort and support in helping our teams compete at their best.

Excursion to Hahndorf
On the July 29, the senior German class travelled to Hanhdorf. The day was an overall success. The Hahndorf excursion was a great opportunity for everyone to bond over a delicious German meal and to extend our German skills in person.
In Hanhdorf we were fortunate to have a brief walk through the German inspired streets. We occasionally stopped in a shop or two we fancied; such as a cuckoo clock shop and the oldest sweet shop in Adelaide!
After this, we walked through the old cemetery of Hahndorf which had graves of some of the first German settlers dating back to the early 1800s. We reflected on the journey that the people took to come here, taking a big risk to travel here for a better life.
Later on, we spent time in a warm authentic German restaurant to stay out from the cold weather and practiced our spoken German over some great food. The highlights were the appetizing pretzel, as well as traditional Bratwurst and Wienerwurst with Sauerkraut. Danke to Herr Kropf for driving us up to Hahndorf for a fun day out experiencing German cuisine.
