Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Welcome to term four. Hopefully you had a very relaxing term break with your family, and your children are re-charged and ready for the last term of the year. I had the pleasure of a week in the Barossa Valley with my wife reading, dining, relaxing and sleeping.

The start of term four of course brings with it a reminder that students need a SCHOOL  broad-brimmed or bucket hat every day. Other types of hats are not appropriate. Students without appropriate hats will need to spend their recess and lunchtimes in the shade. There are also sunscreen dispensers located around the school. The ingredients for these can be found by using the QR code below.

With a busy term four also comes planning for 2026. Thank you to those families who have enrolled their child for next year.  Letters were sent out last term inviting 2026 preps to a series of transition days, and to a parent information session. It would be great to have all of our 2026 preps there, so if you haven't enrolled yours as yet, there's no time like the present.

Today, families will receive a notice via XUNO regarding 2026 Parent Payments. We have changed our process for book packs for next year, so please be sure to read the school council page in this newsletter, and the details in the XUNO message when it arrives. Of course if you have any queries or concerns regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Life Education has come to Mackellar. Some of you may remember Harold the Giraffe from your time at primary school. Life Education has been delivering health education to primary schools for 45 years. Their programs are delivered by a team of specially trained educators covering the following topics here at Mackellar:

Year LevelTopic/s to be covered
Prep My Body Matters
OneGrowing Good Friends
TwoReady Steady Go
ThreeThe Inside Story
FourThe Inside Story
FiveEvolving Friendships & Welcome to puberty
SixNavigating Friendships & Thriving in Puberty

These programs work best when parents can extend conversations at home, so be sure to ask your children all about it.

Finally a reminder that Friday October 31st and Monday November 3rd are both pupil free days. TheirCare will be available on both of these days, however students will not be required at school. With the Cup Day holiday on Tuesday November 4th, students will have a five day break from school. Please mark these dates in your diary.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
