New House Names

We were excited to announce at our recent term tea that we have finally settled on names for each of our school Houses. We've taken a perhaps somewhat unorthodox approach and named our Houses after fruits of the spirit - love, peace, and patience (Galatians 5). Rather than the English words, though, we've chosen to run with the original Greek in which the letter to the Galatians was written - Agape, Eirene, & Makrothumia.
House of Agape
Agape (Ah GAH pay) is the House of unwavering, sacrificial love—love that gives without expecting anything in return. Rooted in the words of John 15:13, our members strive to live out the highest calling: to put others before themselves and to lead through selflessness. The heartbeat of Agape is compassion, service, and unity, making this House a beacon of warmth and welcome to all. Agape’s members are often marked by a quiet strength. They are the ones who step in when others step back, who offer a steady hand and a listening ear. But make no mistake—this House also carries a fierce courage. True love requires bravery, and Agape has both in abundance.
House of Eirene
Eirene (e RAY nay) is the House of true and lasting peace. This peace is more than the absence of conflict—it is the presence of harmony, reconciliation, and wholeness. Members of Eirene are bridge-builders, unifiers, and steady voices in moments of uncertainty. They work to bring understanding where there is division and calm where there is unrest, knowing that peace begins in the heart and spreads outward. To join Eirene is to take up the calling of a peacemaker—someone who seeks the good of others and is willing to walk the longer, quieter path to make relationships whole again.
House of Makrothumia
Makrothumia (mak ro thoo MEE ah) is the House of steadfast endurance and patient strength. The name speaks of a deep, enduring patience that does not give up when trials come, but stands firm with quiet determination. Members of Makrothumia are resilient in the face of hardship, steady under pressure, and committed to the long journey toward what is right. In a world that often rushes, Makrothumia reminds us to slow down, to persevere, and to trust that lasting change takes time. Those who wear the green of Makrothumia embody a spirit that refuses to quit and a faith that will not waver.
