School Captains Report
WALKATHON:
Last Friday, the whole school walked around Patterson and Barrow streets for about 45 minutes, to raise money for new playground equipment. It was so special for the preps and Mrs Di Noto since it was their first ever Walkathon. Don’t forget to bring your sponsorship money to school before next Monday to give your class the best chance at winning.
St BERNARD’S DAY:
Next week it is our school’s annual St Bernard's Day. You would by now know that we are doing St Bernard’s Got Talent, SBGT for short. We will come to all of the classes tomorrow to sort out all of the acts. We are also having a hot-dog, juice box and mini cupcake lunch.
BOOK WEEK:
On the 25th of August, we will be hosting our annual book week celebration. Feel free to come dressed up as your favourite book character. There will be a parade at 9:00 that morning where all of your amazing costumes will be put on display. Parents are welcome to come and watch.
SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY: A friendly reminder that there is no school on Friday the 14th of August due to our teachers having a meeting.
Farewell Ms Tijana:
We cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and teaching us all your amazing and interesting Sport lessons. We are very sad that you are leaving us. You will always be remembered as our lovely Sports teacher. Thanks for always putting a smile on our face.
From the St Bernard’s students.
Reminders: Please do not wear beanies, scarves, gloves, or rain jackets in class because the classrooms are well heated, by all means wear them outside on a cold day in the mornings or at lunchtimes but when in the classroom please remember to take them off.
STEM CLASSES SNAPSHOT OF LEARNING
Clementine (Prep): We are investigating what things push and what things pull, on different surfaces - for example toy cars.
Max (1/2): We have been using Clay to form shapes and see how far and fast they go down a ramp. We are using uni-fix blocks to measure.
Jonah (3/4): We've been learning about forces, gravity and about Newton's Law and testing the friction of cars on different surfaces.
Summer (5/6): We've been testing pulleys, to find out how to make it easier to carry heavy loads.
District Athletics: On Tuesday next week, a handful of students are going to the district athletics. Congratulations to all the students that were selected and we hope you can represent our school in a positive way. Please wear sport uniform, bring a small bag with your lunches and wear some suitable runners/sneakers.
MASCOT COMPETITION
We are excited to announce the top 5 PBL Mascots. Students, Parents and Teachers will be voting for their favourite one.
