'Strengthening Number Sense at Home' Parent Session

This Thursday, Prep parents are invited to join us for a ‘Strengthening Number Sense at Home’ parent session. This interactive workshop is designed to provide practical and engaging ways to support your child's mathematical learning through everyday activities at home.

During the session, you will:

  • learn what number sense is and why it is an important foundation for mathematics
  • explore simple games and activities that build confidence with numbers
  • discover easy strategies to incorporate maths into daily routines
  • take home practical resources that you can use with your child

Whether your child is just beginning their mathematical journey or would benefit from extra practice, this session will offer ideas to help make learning enjoyable and meaningful.

Date: Thursday 13th August 2026

Time: 9:00am (after drop off)

Location: School Hall

Working together, we can help children develop strong mathematical skills and a positive attitude towards learning. We look forward to seeing you and partnering with you to support your child's learning.

Energy in Action!

There is plenty of exciting learning happening across the school this term as students explore our Inquiry focus, Energy in Action! Through hands-on investigations, experiments, problem-solving and plenty of questioning, students are discovering how different forms of energy work in the world around us.

Our Prep and Year 1/2 students are becoming young scientists as they explore sound and vibrations. They are investigating how sounds are made, experimenting with pitch and volume, observing vibrations and using everyday materials and musical instruments to test their ideas.

In Years 3/4, the focus turns to heat energy. Students are investigating where heat comes from, how it moves between objects and why different materials are better at keeping things hot or cold. They are capturing predictions, observations, measurements and evidence as they work like real scientists to explain what they discover.

Our Year 5/6 students are getting hands-on with electricity and circuits, exploring how electrical energy is transferred and transformed. They will build, test and troubleshoot circuits, investigate conductors and insulators, and develop an understanding of how individual components work together within an electrical system.

With excursions and incursions planned for every level, there will be even more opportunities for students to take their learning beyond the classroom and see science in action. It is wonderful to see Inquiry learning filled with curiosity, investigation and collaboration.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is nearly finished for 2026, with the Challenge closing on Friday 4 September. If your child has been participating, now is the time to make sure all the books they have read are added to their Challenge account. Don’t let those last few books go uncounted! We can’t wait to celebrate the fantastic reading our students have achieved this year!
