Grade 2 Report

The Grade 2 students have had a very busy term and are definitely looking forward to a well deserved break.
This term in writing we have been learning to write persuasive texts. All of the students have done a fantastic job of using persuasive language and devices to convince people of their point of view.
In Reading we have been exploring concepts like cause and effect and compare and contrast and we have been learning to identify the main idea of a text. We have also really been enjoying our novel Polly and Buster and have been trying out our persuasive skills to convince people to support either witches or monsters.
As part of this we have had heaps of fun creating our own monsters and making badges to show our support for witches or monsters.
In Maths we have been exploring 2 dimensional shapes and have been learning to identify regular and irregular polygons. We have also done activities about multiplication and division and have had lots of fun making array cities and sharing skittles to model division.
For Science we have been learning about the water cycle and how to conserve water, and we have started our unit on forces.
