Music News

Our students have enjoyed a highly productive period across Music, filled with collaborative workshops, rehearsals and live performances.

At the end of last term, our percussionists attended the ACC Drumline Workshop, led by D2 Drumline—a professional ensemble renowned for high-profile performances, including the AFL Grand Final. Working alongside their ACC school peers, our students developed new technical skills and experienced the unique dynamic of performing in a large-scale percussion ensemble.

Our Jazz Band participated in the ACC Jazz Workshop at St Joseph’s College Geelong. Led by prominent Melbourne jazz musician David Gardner, the session focused on the fundamentals of improvisation, providing students with practical tools to confidently solo and collaborate in real time.

Vocal Showcase: We’re Going To Broadway!

Congratulations to our Vocal Students involved in our recent Musical Theatre Showcase, ‘We’re Going To Broadway’.  The evening featured many Musical Theatre favourites, with several students debuting as soloists. A live band accompanied the singers, adding professional energy to all performances.

Many thanks to our Vocal Teacher, Drew Downing, for his exceptional work preparing the students and producing an outstanding show.

Student Highlights

"I really enjoyed the community aspects of the Vocal Showcase. Being able to hear people properly sing on stage by themselves for the first time and being able to cheer them on from the audience is an experience I will never forget. The community that attended the showcase were great, giving everyone a good applause and all the singers compliments after the show." Oliver, Year 12

"It was a great night watching all the people sing their songs knowing how hard they worked on this. I would do this again." Frank, Year 11

"The Vocal Showcase was a great night and I loved being able to see my peers perform and be there to support them. It was also a great way to show the singing skills I've worked on throughout the semester and the support from the wonderful people around me helped calm my nerves before the performance." Fabio, Year 10

"The Vocal Showcase was a great experience. Performing both as a soloist and alongside my peers gave me a strong sense of connection and community. The weekly preparation sessions in Vocal Ensemble played a significant role in helping me grow, not only as a singer but also as a student. The guidance and support I received helped build my confidence, improve my skills, and make the experience both enjoyable and rewarding." Kristian, Year 8

"My most favourite parts were the amount of love and support I received from my peers and the ability to perform a duet with my best mate onstage. It was super fun and ended up being a great memory." Patrick, Year 10
