Year 8 Badminton
Recently we sent 2 year 8 Badminton teams to the Southern Metropolitan Region tournament.
Both boys and girls played 3 pool matches, in a best of 6 format. The boys team played admirably against some tough competition, and finished 4th overall. The girls team, made up of Erika, Angie, Nicha, Navya and Sanjana all played brilliantly, winning each match 6-0.
This gave the girls the chance to play in the final, with the winner advancing to the State finals in the middle of September. Our team was fantastic in the final, winning again 6-0 and booking a spot in the state tournament.
This will be the second time in 2 years the same 5 girls have represented Kambrya at the state level. We are hoping to improve on last years 3rd place. Well done to everyone that played at Regionals, and good luck to the girls going to State.
Jack Howell - Going for Gold
As we previously communicated to families, Jack Howell, a former Kambrya student who completed Year 12 in 2022, was chosen to represent Australia in the para triathlon event at the Paris Paralympics which are currently on.
Jack competed in the event last Monday evening Melbourne time and we are very proud to say that Jack finished in 7th place, which is an incredible achievement for his first ever paralympics and at only 20 years of age!
The Kambrya College Community are very proud of your achievement, Jack, and look forward to following your progress in the years to come as you head towards the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics and the 2032 Brisbane Paralympics.
