FIRST AID NEWS
Keeping our school community well.
As we come out of winter and head into some milder spring weather, we see an increase in the number of students presenting to the sick bay with infectious illnesses such as cold and flu viruses, Covid-19 and gastroenteritis.
Students with cold or flu-like symptoms or vomiting or diarrhoea should be encouraged to seek medical attention, limit contact with others and stay at home until symptoms have passed.
If a student becomes ill at school with these symptoms, our First Aid Officer will contact the family and arrange for the collection of the child.
Parents, carers and students are encouraged to practice prevention measures, including:
- washing and sanitising hands regularly
- avoiding touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
- covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
- staying home if unwell and consulting a general practitioner (GP) or Nurse-on-call as required
- staying up to date with flu and COVID-19 vaccinations.
