Little Learners Love Literacy

Literacy Development in Prep to Year 2- Semester One
I am very excited and proud to share that we have seen wonderful growth with our Prep to Year 2 students in their literacy this Term through our Little Learners Love Literacy lessons. It is so pleasing to see how our Junior Teachers (Mrs Crema, Mrs Clifford and Miss Javier) and Junior students have connected with the program and how it is impacting the students learning.
Our mid year assessment data for our Preps shows that the majority of our Prep’s are progressing ahead of standard and are well on track to meet the Little Learners Love Literacy benchmark for the end of Prep before the end of the year. This is wonderful news and a reflection of all the hard work Mrs Crema and our Prep students have put into their Literacy learning over the past semester. We look forward to seeing their continued growth and all the amazing milestones they will achieve in Semester Two.
Students in Year 1 have also seen pleasing growth with many at or above the mid-year standard for their level. Students have been consolidating their learning from Prep and strengthening their skills to become confident and fluent readers. We eagerly anticipate more wonderful progress in Semester Two.
In Year 2, students are demonstrating growing confidence and improved reading and spelling skills. Students are progressing nicely and are well placed to confidently approach the Term 3 Little Learners Love Literacy curriculum. We look forward to seeing the development of our Year 2 students in Semester Two as they prepare to enter Year Three for 2027.
High importance is placed on consistent reading practice each day and we encourage students to utilise the online readers over the holiday break. We encourage students to read texts a number of times to strengthen fluency and comprehension skills. You can do this by using the QR code that has been sent home for your child. If you require another copy of the code, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
Kind regards
Deana Portia
