Dear Parents, 

The second half of Term 2 was full of amazing opportunities for our children and these are just a few highlights! 

The biggest highlight of the term was without a doubt our appearance on Channel 7's Sunrise program. I was overwhelmed by the support from the community with everyone's attendance from 5am. I'm sure you have seen the clip many times but I have attached it in case you missed it! It was a wonderful opportunity for our community and to show case our fabulous school.

As a result from our appearance on the Sunrise program and from the following clip on our social media platforms, two of our students Sophie J and Harvey W have been asked by the Melbourne Football Club to be the Junior MC's at the upcoming AFL match on 12th July. In addition, the Melbourne Football Club have also offered free tickets to our school community to attend the game. Please refer to the link shared on SIMON/PAM for your ticket.

During the term, the Year 5/6 students attended the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Campaspe Downs in Kyneton. It was a great opportunity for the students to be challenged both mentally and physically as well as to spend some downtime with their friends. Some of the activities included abseiling, leap of faith, giant swing, flying fox, laser tag, initiatives, low ropes, building a catapult and singing by the camp fire and toasting marshmallows. Thank you to the staff who gave up their personal time away from their family to attend camp. 

Also, thank you to Signora Gina Michieli for organising a wonderful Italian Day during the term! The day was filled with Italian inspired activities such as Bocce, soccer, mask making and Tombola as well as amazing food including pizza making by Woodstack Pizza. Thank you also to those parents who helped out on the day. 

Our student achievements during the term were many with Sophie J in Year 6 qualifying for the State Championships in Cross Country next term, after her performance in the Regionals. 

Congratulations to our three aerobics teams who recently performed at the State Championships with our Junior team qualifying for the National Championships held in Queensland in September.

Also, at our most recent Chess Tournament for Prep to Year 3, our school came 6th out of 24 schools. Our highest ranked students from the tournament were Adrian and Max, who have now qualified for the State Finals later in the year. 

A number of our Year 4 students celebrated their Sacrament of First Eucharist on the 12th and 21st of June. Thank you to the parents and teachers for supporting these students in their Sacramental journey. Also thank you to our Parish including Katarina Steele, the Sacramental Coordinator and Father Sang Ho, our Parish Priest for their ongoing support and guidance. 

Thank you to the Parents Association in particular Sharlotte Cua and the parents who supported her in organising the student disco. The atrium was transformed into a vibrant and electric space where the Year 5/6 students led a number of disco games for the younger children. The night would not have been complete with our local DJ, James Kakridas. 

To end the term, we finished with our Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and important funds for MND. Thank you to all those families who helped to raise funds towards the fight for a cure. We are still confirming the total amount raised but we estimate that it will be around $2,600. Well done everyone!
