Being Faithful to Grace: A Celebration of 150 Years of Loreto and 120 Years of Our School Story
This year marks a moment in our community’s journey, the celebration of 150 years of Loreto in Australia and 120 years of our own school’s founding story. These milestones remind us of the strength, vision, and enduring spirit of the women who came before us, and the community who continues to walk in their footsteps.
To mark this occasion, we are proud to host the “Being Faithful to Grace” exhibition an immersive and reflective experience that honours our rich Loreto heritage, pays tribute to the pioneering women, we will also host our 120 Art exhibition which looks back at our foundation in South Australia.
From the arrival of the first Loreto Sisters in Ballarat in 1875, to the establishment of our school in 1905, the Loreto story in Australia has always been one of courage, faith, and an openness to the call of God’s grace. The exhibition explores how our school community has been shaped by this charism grounded in the legacy of Mary Ward and the bold leadership of Mother Gonzaga Barry, whose pioneering vision for the education of girls continues to guide us.
The exhibition will feature historical artefacts, photographs, student projects, and creative works that bring to life the themes of faith, justice, community, and leadership. It is both a tribute to the past and a celebration of the present, a reminder that we are all part of this unfolding story.
We warmly invite all members of our Loreto community, students, families, old scholars, and friends to come and experience this beautiful reflection of who we are.
Let us continue to be, in the words of the theme of the 150 Loreto exhibition, “Being Faithful to Grace” open to possibility, grounded in faith, and united in purpose as we celebrate together.
