Middle Group News

Our middle group has had a fantastic term, building strong confidence with fractions and developing a solid understanding of equivalent fractions, including how different fractions can represent the same value. Students have also been exploring how to add, subtract, and divide fractions, using a range of strategies and visual supports, and it’s been great to see their persistence grow along with their ability to explain their thinking when solving problems.

Alongside this, Term 1 has seen a real buzz in literacy as students delved into documentaries, learning about their structure and key features while watching a wide variety of examples across different topics. To top it off, students even had a go at filming their own documentary footage around the school, with the hopes that they will work together to create a documentary later this year. Keep up the great work! - Dylan and Logan

It’s been great to see creativity, collaboration, and pride in their work growing each week!

Infood technology this term, students have been focussing on hygiene and safety in the kitchen. They have been developing their skills in the correct use of a cooks knife, while the junior classes have been learning about fractions through practical activities using measuring cups. Throughout the term students have enjoyed preparing a variety of recipes including sushi, banana bread, subs, hamburgers and more. We are proud of the students enthusiasm and growing confidence in the kitchen and look forward to building on these skills next term!

They have had plenty of opportunities to practise these skills in different contexts, helping to build confidence and coordination. Students have also enjoyed exploring a variety of PE games, which has encouraged teamwork, fair play, and positive participation. Additionally, it’s been great to see some students further extending their fitness and strength by attending local gym sessions. It’s been a great first Term!

FLO Inc

In our FLO Inc this term, students have been focusing on safe practice while engaging in a wide range of practical, student‑selected projects. It’s been fantastic to see their creativity and independence shine through as they’ve explored areas such as stop‑motion animation, acrylic nail design, basic woodwork, and more complex mechanical projects, such as rebuilding engines and motorbikes. Across all activities, students have shown increasing responsibility, problem‑solving skills, and a willingness to learn new things in a safe and supportive environment. We can’t wait to see the finished projects!
