Grade 5/6 Halls Gap Camp and Arrangements for the Rest of This Week

Our Grade 5/6 students (along with Mr Morgan) are heading off on their Halls Gap camp tomorrow, until the end of the week. This will mean that there will be a little bit of juggling for the whole campus to make this work. Below, please have a good read of the arrangements for each day coming up this week:

Wednesday August 5

  • Grade 5/6 students meet Mr Morgan at the Buninyong campus at 8:30am, ready to head off to camp.
  • SC2 Grade 3/4s join SC1 at Scotsburn campus for the day (we will still have normal specialist program with Mr Skilbeck)

Thursday August 6

  • SC2 Grade 3/4s join SC1 at Scotsburn campus for the day (we will still have normal specialist program with Mrs Morgan)

Friday August 7 - at Buninyong Campus

  • All Scotsburn students spend the day at the Buninyong Campus, due to lower staff numbers. This will look like a normal Buninyong day, meeting Mrs Murphy in the courtyard at 8:45am, and working in the room adjacent to the courtyard.

Thank you everyone in advance for your flexibility!

Last Friday our SC1 students enjoyed a fun day celebrating 100 days of school. We had some very creative outfits, with some students looking like they had more wrinkles than Mr Morgan! We also had a wonderful opportunity to complete a 100 days activity with SC2, working with some of our buddies. Well done everyone!!!

SC2 Biodiversity Audit

On Monday SC2 had a visit from Inga Hamilton, from Resource Smart Schools. Inga has already worked with us a few times this year as part of the Raising Rarity Conservation Program. During this visit, Inga worked with students to complete a biodiversity audit on the Scotsburn Campus, looking at how well we are looking after the environment, as well as areas that we could look to improve. We scored very high in the audit (which is amazing!), and also had a few focus areas that we can action throughout the rest of the year.

By the end of this session, all of our SC2 students gained some new knowledge about the importance on native plants and vegetation, as well as ways we can continue to prioritise our environment.

Concert Information

Backstage Volunteer Roster

Thanks to those who have already let us know they may be able to assist with backstage help. If you are interested in helping backstage, click in the link below and add your name to the list. If there are more than two volunteers in any given timeslot, we will draw names out of a hat. We would love to have a nice range of parent helpers from both classes.

Costume Requirements

In terms of costumes for the concert, we have most students organised so far for their individual creatures. With everyone being a little different with what they require, we will contact everyone directly if we need specific things from home.

For our three “travellers” (Lincoln, Seth and Lachy), we are asking that they are in safari-style costumes. To make this work, we need them to have the following:

  • tan or khaki button-down shirt
  • matching tan cargo shorts
  • Matching tan bucket hat
  • hiking/work boots

The aim for the three boys, is for a look, similar to below:

We will source some of this, however if Linc, Seth and Darragh can provide boots from home and any other items they already have at home to match this, that would be great!

Prop Making Assistance

In week 5 and 6 we may be looking for a bit of prop making assistance - when this time comes, we will put out a call for a few volunteer helpers.

In the next day or two, you will also receive a specific Scotsburn Compass message about finer details for concert week. Please keep this message saved as a useful reference for you to look at when concert week arrives.

School Arrival Time

With the new daily schedule and learning structure that we have developed in 2026, our dedicated learning begins in the classrooms from 9am sharp. Whilst we understand that from time to time late arrivals may be unavoidable, we do require that all students are set up and ready for learning by 9am bell time. If you are having any difficulties with drop off times, please come in and chat with Jarrod to see if we can help out.

Swimming and Water Safety Program

Our 2026 swimming and water safety program commences later this term. Lessons take place at the Federation University pool by qualified instructors and run for 45 minutes over a 5 day period.

More detailed information will be sent home via Compass in the coming week for parent/carer consent, along with payment details. The cost of this year’s program is $66 per child.

In the meantime, please see the dates for Scotsburn below.

2027 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2027 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
