Our Student Leadership Teams are excited to lead a range of initiatives throughout Term 3, continuing to make a positive difference across our school community. From promoting student voice and wellbeing to encouraging sustainability, house spirit and community connection, our student leaders are embracing every opportunity to lead by example. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiasm, responsibility and commitment to making

Student Wellbeing Team

Monday 10th August	Comfort Day Comfort Day is a special opportunity for students to slow down, connect with one another and focus on wellbeing. Students are invited to wear their favourite comfortable clothing but not pyjamas and enjoy a range of calming, fun and engaging activities throughout the day. Classrooms may include shared stories, mindfulness, creative art, games, music, cosy reading spaces and opportunities to talk about emotions, kindness and self-care. Comfort Day reminds students that taking care of their wellbeing is just as important as taking care of their learning, while helping to build a positive, connected and supportive school community.	Wear your most comfortable clothing to school but NOT your PJ's.
Thursday 17th September	RU Okay Day Although R U OK? Day is officially recognised on Thursday 10 September, this coincides with our exciting Japan Day celebrations. To ensure both events receive the attention they deserve, our Student Student Wellbeing Team will lead our R U OK? Day activities the following week. The initiative encourages everyone to take the time to check in with those around them and reminds us that a simple conversation can make a real difference. We look forward to our school community coming together to celebrate the power of connection and to remind one another that meaningful conversations help everyone feel valued, supported and connected	Throughout the day, students will participate in activities that promote friendship, kindness, inclusion and wellbeing, while reinforcing the importance of asking "Are you OK?", listening with care and seeking help when needed.

Tuesday 28 July	Term 3 is an exciting one for our House Captains as they prepare for one of the biggest events on the Ripponlea Primary School calendar—the House Athletics Carnival! Over the coming weeks, our House Captains will be encouraging participation, building house spirit and preparing their teams for a fantastic day of friendly competition. From organising team chants and motivating students to leading by example on the track and in the field, our captains play an important role in making the carnival a memorable experience for everyone. Students are encouraged to proudly wear their house colours, support one another and demonstrate our school values of Pride, Respect and Safety throughout the day. Whether competing in sprints, relays, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus or cheering from the sidelines, every student has an important part to play in earning valuable points for their house. Will Bemin, Booring, Tunparrim or Warren take home the House Athletics Championship for 2026? We can't wait to find out! Good luck to all of our competitors and a huge thank you to our House Captains for their outstanding leadership and enthusiasm as they inspire their teams to give their very best. Term 3 is an exciting one for our House Captains as they prepare for one of the biggest events on the Ripponlea Primary School calendar—the House Athletics Carnival!

Thursday 6 August	Dino Day - A Roar-some SRC Initiative! Get ready for a ROAR-some day! Our Student Representative Council (SRC) is excited to host Dino Day on Thursday 6 August as part of its commitment to supporting wildlife conservation. Students are invited to wear anything featuring a dinosaur, including a T-shirt, jumper, dress, hat, socks or other dinosaur-themed clothing. Dinosaur pyjamas are also very welcome! Families are encouraged to contribute a gold coin donation, with funds raised supporting the Wildlife Conservation Fund and its important work protecting wildlife and threatened species. Dino Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to have fun, celebrate school spirit and learn more about the importance of caring for animals and protecting our natural environment. We encourage everyone to get involved and help make it a prehistoric day to remember. Keep an eye on Compass for donation details and any further information. Thursday 3 September	Our Sustainability Leaders (Year 6 and Junior SRC) are excited to represent Ripponlea Primary School at the School Sustainability Festival on Thursday 3 September at St Kilda Town Hall and the St Kilda Botanical Gardens. Hosted by the Port Phillip EcoCentre in partnership with the City of Glen Eira and the City of Port Phillip, the festival brings together student leaders from schools across the region to celebrate environmental action and inspire the next generation of changemakers. We know our Sustainability Leaders will return inspired with new ideas to support our school community as we continue to strengthen our recycling, composting, gardening and sustainability initiatives. We look forward to hearing about their experiences and seeing the positive impact they bring back to Ripponlea Primary School as they continue to lead environmental action across our school.	Throughout the day, our students will participate in engaging workshops, hands-on environmental activities and collaborative leadership sessions focused on this year's theme, "Life on Earth." They will have the opportunity to explore important topics such as biodiversity, waste reduction, climate action and caring for our local environment while sharing ideas with students from other schools.
