Senior Sport - Term 3, Week 1
Welcome back to Term 3! I hope everyone had the chance to enjoy a well-earned break and is ready for an exciting finish to our winter sporting season.
This weekend, our Rugby teams head west to Bathurst to take on St Stanislaus' College. Away trips like these are a fantastic part of school sport, providing our students with the opportunity to test themselves in usually chilly conditions, strengthen team connections and proudly represent the College. We wish all of our players, coaches and supporters safe travels and every success for the weekend.
Football and Tennis also return after the holidays and head into the final rounds of the season. With finals just around the corner, every training session and every match becomes increasingly important. It's been pleasing to see the commitment and resilience shown by our students throughout the season, and we look forward to seeing all teams finish the year strongly.
There is also plenty of excitement building for one of the biggest days on our sporting calendar—Back to Breen Day on Saturday 1 August against Oakhill College.
Back to Breen Day is always a special occasion and one that means a great deal to the College community. It's an opportunity to celebrate the proud sporting traditions of St Patrick's while bringing together current students, families, Old Boys, and supporters for a fantastic day at the College.
We encourage as many members of our community as possible to come along and support our students. Whether you're there for one game or spending the whole day at the College, your support creates an atmosphere that lifts our teams and makes the day even more memorable. We'd love to see our SPC venues filled with Blue, Black, and Gold as we get behind every SPC team taking the field.
Thank you to our coaches, staff, parents/carers and volunteers for the time and energy you continue to invest in our sporting program. We look forward to another fantastic term of competition and hope to see you on the sidelines over the coming weeks.
ISA Rugby Representatives
Congratulations to:
Jack A, Oscar D, Hamish M and Alex S who represented St Patrick’s in the U18s ISA Second XV at the New South Wales School Rugby Championships in the final week of Term 2. The boys had great performances against GPS, CAS, and Sydney Juniors in wet and slippery conditions with the highlight being a dominant win against the CAS Second XV.

Sean C who played in the U16s ISA Gold representative rugby team on the first weekend of the holidays held at St Gregory’s College. Sean performed strongly against the best of the U16 schoolboy rugby players in the state.
Holiday Football matches vs St Aloysius’ College
During the school holidays, the First XI and Second XI played friendly matches against St Aloysius' College. While the players enjoyed a well-earned break, both squads came together for a training session to prepare for the fixtures.
The Second XI performed strongly and dominated large periods of their match. After taking an early 1–0 lead, the team seemed to be in control but unfortunately conceded a late equaliser in the final minute to finish with a 1–1 draw. The result was disappointing given the number of chances created throughout the game, with missed opportunities ultimately proving costly.
The First XI then took to the field in what was expected to be a competitive encounter. St Aloysius’ provided a strong challenge and the match served as an excellent preparation for the season ahead. The team played some attractive football, scoring several well-worked goals and creating numerous additional opportunities. In the end, the First XI ran out convincing 3–0 winners with an impressive all-round performance.
Both matches provided valuable preparation, and we now look forward to the resumption of the ISA competition and the opportunities that lie ahead for our teams.
NSWCIS Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to Nicolae I, Ryan S, Archie A and Charlie A who competed for the representative ISA Cross Country team at the NSWCIS Cross Country Championships last term. The boys performed strongly and represented the College proudly. An additional congratulations and good luck to Nicolae who was selected for the NSWCIS Cross Country team who will compete at the NSW All Schools Championships this week.
