Junior School Update

With Mrs Fiona Clark
The term has been a bit longer than usual with Easter being later this year and I think everyone is ready for the holidays! The term has flown by with many different events and activities throughout. A personal highlight for me would have to be our celebration last Friday for Harmony Day. A massive thank you to all the staff and students who helped to make the day so enjoyable and meaningful. It was a fitting example of being united for a cause and working together as a community. Our Vision for Learning focus area Collaboration, was certainly in practice.
In Year 5/6, students have been learning how to paragraph, particularly regarding narrative writing. We have worked hard on being ‘strong’ with our boundary punctuation and making sure we don’t write with run on sentences. Our book work has also been a priority.
Examples of Year 5/6 workbooks
In Year 3/4, students have been working on suffixes and prefixes. Each morning, the students practice and learn the designated suffix in their structured literacy class.
In Year 1/2, the students are hands on with the MAB and learning about place value and counting, while the Foundations have been sentence writing, starting with ‘I went to …’
Enjoy the week ahead,
Fiona
