On Friday 23rd October, our Prep students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the MCG! In the lead-up to our visit, we designed our own footy jerseys and used iPads to explore images of the MCG and learn about what happens there, building lots of excitement for the big day.
We split into three groups, which was a wonderful opportunity to connect with new friends across the Prep cohort. During our guided tour, we explored the grounds, discovered some of the MCG's fascinating history, including its connection to the Olympics, and visited the special press room where journalists and media share the big sporting stories. Did you know the MCG has a capacity of over 100,000 people?
We finished our action-packed day with a lovely picnic under the trees before heading back to school. A big thank you to our wonderful parent helpers, Adina (PA), Joshua (PB), Antoine (PC) and Alex (PD), for giving up their time and helping the day run so smoothly. It was a fantastic day of learning, friendship and fun!

This term, our Prep students had an exciting two-part Fire Education Safety Incursion, delivered in partnership with Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV).
The program was all about learning some important fire safety skills and discovering how we can help keep ourselves, our families and our community safe.
For our first session, we were lucky enough to welcome some wonderful firefighters to CJC! They chatted with the students about fire safety, shared important tips for staying safe at home and got everyone involved in some fun discussions and role-play activities. The students even had a chance to practise the very important 'Stop, Drop and Roll' technique!
But the excitement didn't stop there! The firefighters returned for our second session, bringing along something very special… their BIG RED FIRE TRUCK!
Our Prep students were absolutely thrilled to get up close and explore the fire truck and some of the equipment firefighters use. The highlight? Getting to be firefighters themselves by holding the hose and spraying water across the playground! There were plenty of smiles, lots of excitement and, of course, many very happy little firefighters! Even the teachers couldn't resist having a go… and let's just say it was SPLASH-tastic!
A HUGE thank you to our wonderful firefighters at FRV for their time, enthusiasm and dedication to keeping our community safe. Our Prep students had an absolute blast while learning some very important life-saving skills!
