Principal's Report

Our Book Week celebrations were a vibrant week of reading, creativity, and local community spirit. As always, the highlight was our Book Week Parade, where staff and students dressed as their favourite characters, showcasing wonderful imagination and effort. The photos below are a testament to the time and effort put into preparing for the day. Throughout the week, classrooms engaged in a range of activities promoting a passion for reading.

The school Book Fair was also a great success, giving students and families the opportunity to explore and purchase new books. We also cannot wait to hear the winners announced from the Book Fair Raffle! Good luck to everyone who is entered.

It was a fantastic celebration of our school community, which is always a highlight on our school events calendar. (Please also see the Assistant Principal's report for more Book Week Activities)

Whittlesea Primary School students will have the incredible opportunity to be part of the State Schools Spectacular on Saturday 29th August, a large-scale performance that celebrates the talents of students from across Victoria. Our students demonstrate outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork as they rehearse and perform alongside thousands of other students. Being part of such a professional production will provide a unique experience, allowing them to showcase their skills in dance, music and performance.

We are incredibly proud of their efforts and extend our sincere thanks to the staff, Ms Zoe Dyer, Ms Katie Murphy and Ms Renee Balzan, who have supported students throughout rehearsals and preparation. We also thank our families for their ongoing support. We are confident that they will have a memorable experience.

Works are well underway with the gate upgrade at the front of the school. In terms of where we are, the footing is complete, but we now need to allow for the concrete to cure and harden (minimum 7 days). After this, the gate will be installed. Finally, to complete the works, we will install an intercom and card reader at the gate. Whilst we do not have the specific timeline, we are confident that we will have all of these completed (and handed over to the school) by the start of Term 4, at the very latest.
I would like to share that Ms Hope Cummins has been appointed to the recently advertised VTLM 2.0 Instructional Leader (Learning Specialist) position at Whittlesea Primary School (commencing in 2027). Congratulations to Ms. Cummins. I would also like to thank the panel members, Ms Caroline Van Oorschot and Mr Justin Lania (neighbouring Principal Class members), for supporting me in this process.
Have a wonderful weekend, and good luck if your team is in the finals!
