From the Head of Secondary

Last week’s visit from International Baccalaureate (IB) evaluators shone a light on the wonderful learning that students at GNLC are engaged in. Particularly pleasing was the way our students spoke to evaluators about their learning, both in organised sessions and as they visited classrooms during their visit.

The IB framework’s focus on Approaches to Learning (AtL): thinking skills, communication skills, social skills, self-management skills and research skills, resonate deeply in the current world in which the ongoing development of AI is creating uncertainty about the nature of work and learning for the future. Given the uncertainty inherent in the modern world, at GNLC, we know these Approaches to Learning, when prioritised and developed alongside our College values: grace, courage, integrity and respect, offer our students the best opportunity to thrive now and into the future.

It was heartening to receive feedback from our evaluators about the strengths of our IB program, led admirably by Mrs Bec Moore (PYP) and Mr Rizal Ahmad (MYP).

Blessings to all as we move into the second half of Term 3, and as our graduating class of 2026 turn their focus towards final assessments and upcoming examinations.
