As we come to the end of a very positive Term 1, I would like to sincerely thank our students and families for your ongoing support in creating a safe, inclusive and engaging school environment. It has been wonderful to see such a strong sense of connection across our community.

We are pleased to share that our Student Eye Care Program has been a great success, with a visiting optometrist providing comprehensive eye checks for students. This valuable service will continue into the beginning of Term 2, ensuring ongoing support for student health and wellbeing. We are also looking forward to the return of the Australian Dental Van in Term 2. If you have not yet registered your child, please refer to the Compass post for further information.

Congratulations to all students and families on outstanding attendance this term, with a school average of 94% - a fantastic achievement. A gentle reminder that arriving on time is just as important as being present, as late arrivals can increase anxiety for children and reduce valuable learning time.

You may have noticed the addition of “Sorry Business” as a reason for absence or lateness on Compass. This is a Department of Education approved category, recognising a culturally appropriate reason for Koorie students related to a death in the community.

A reminder regarding yard supervision at Kingswood: while staff are on duty before and after school and during recess and lunch breaks, students should not be on school grounds unsupervised before 8:45am or after 3:35pm. Families who require care outside of these hours are encouraged to access our OSH provider, TeamKids.

It has been wonderful to see how well our whole-school routines and expectations have been embedded, helping to build a strong sense of safety and belonging for all students. Our celebration of Harmony Day was a highlight, with students engaging in multimedia projects, poetry, cultural dress, and learning that celebrated the diversity of our community.

We are also excited for our Year 5 PLAY Leaders to begin their roles in Term 2. We look forward to seeing the enthusiasm and care they bring as they support positive play experiences for our Prep and Year 1 students.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for what promises to be a busy and exciting Term 2.
