As we come to the end of a truly outstanding first term, it is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the positive and energetic start we have made to the 2026 school year.

From the very first day, our students have settled into their learning with focus and enthusiasm and our classrooms have been calm, purposeful and highly engaged. This strong start is a credit to both our students and staff, who have worked together to establish clear routines, high expectations and a shared commitment to learning success. Across the school, our consistent approach to explicit teaching and structured learning has ensured that every student is supported to thrive.

A particular highlight for me this term was the Year 2 Expo. It was an absolute joy to see our students confidently sharing their learning, especially their insights into how our brains work. The depth of understanding, curiosity and pride on display was remarkable and I know many of us—myself included—learnt a great deal from their work. Experiences like this showcase the power of student voice and the rich learning opportunities taking place every day at Kingswood.

Workforce Planning Update – A place to shine

As part of our forward planning, we would like to inform the community of some upcoming staff leave.

Bradley Stringer and Teizo Kato will be taking family leave for the majority of Term 2 and Katie Bennett will be commencing family leave early in Term 3. We wish them all the very best during this special time.

As a result, we will be seeking a high-quality teaching staff member to support our Year 6 students across the second half of the year. If you are aware of any teachers who may be looking for full-time opportunities, we encourage them to reach out to the school for further information.

We appreciate the ongoing support of our community in helping us maintain strong and consistent learning environments for all students.

School Council – Connected to community

We also take this opportunity to acknowledge and sincerely thank our departing School Council members for their outstanding service to our community. Dhani (Parent), Analese (Parent) and Sharron Cramer (Staff).

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and sincerely thank several valued members of our school community:

Dhanihas made an extraordinary contribution to Kingswood Primary School over many years and we are incredibly grateful for her dedication and service to our community.

Throughout her time at the school, Dhani has taken on key leadership roles, including Parent Association President and School Council President. In each of these roles, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to improving outcomes for all students and strengthening the connection between school and community.

Dhani has been a tireless advocate for Kingswood. Her willingness to give her time, energy and expertise has played a significant role in supporting school initiatives and fostering a strong sense of community. She has consistently approached her work with a positive and solutions-focused mindset, always keeping the best interests of the school at the centre of her efforts.

What has stood out most is Dhani’s infectious positivity. Her approachable nature, enthusiasm and genuine care for the school have made a lasting impression on staff, students and families alike.

Analese has made a valued and sustained contribution to Kingswood Primary School through her many years of service on School Council.

During this time, Analese has been a thoughtful and committed member, consistently contributing to discussions and decision-making processes that support the ongoing improvement of the school. Her involvement reflects a genuine commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for all students.

In 2025, Analese also played an important role as a member of the OHSC working party, contributing her time and perspective to this significant area of school planning and development. Her willingness to be involved and to support key initiatives has been greatly appreciated.

Most recently, Sharron Cramer stepped into a two-year term where she helped fill an important gap in council membership. Her willingness to take on this role at a critical time ensured continuity in governance and supported the ongoing work of the school.

In total, Sharron has contributed approximately 12 years of service on School Council. This level of commitment is exceptional and reflects a deep connection to and care for the Kingswood community. Across her time on council, Sharron has consistently provided thoughtful input, supported decision-making processes and contributed to the continued growth and improvement of the school.

I would like to sincerely thank Sharron for her dedication, reliability and long-standing service. Her contribution over many years has been highly valued and greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the entire community, we thank them for their time, energy and passion.

At the same time, we are pleased to welcome our newly elected School Council members for the 2026–2028 term. Congratulations to Katie Abbott, Diana David and Dorit Patterson on their election. We also congratulate Arosh Fernandeo on being elected School Council President, Andrew Medcraft as Vice President and Priyanka Karwal on her continued role as Treasurer.

We look forward to their leadership and the positive direction they will bring to our school.

We warmly encourage any parents who are interested in contributing to the governance and future direction of the school to consider joining one of our School Council subcommittees. Your voice and involvement are highly valued and play an important role in strengthening our school community.

Teaching and Learning - We are here for the students

There has also been significant progress across the school this term. Our strong focus on teaching and learning, particularly through clear routines, consistent practice and ongoing assessment, has ensured students are well supported from the outset. Student wellbeing continues to be a priority, with positive relationships and support structures firmly in place. Additionally, improvements to our grounds and facilities have enhanced our learning environment, supporting both play and engagement.

As the term draws to a close, I would like to thank our entire school community—students, staff and families for your ongoing support and partnership. It is this shared commitment that makes Kingswood such a positive and thriving place to learn.

We wish all of our families a safe and restful break, filled with opportunities to spend quality time together. Whether you are travelling, relaxing at home, or enjoying time with loved ones, we hope the holidays provide a chance to recharge.

We also extend our warmest wishes to all families celebrating Easter. However this time is celebrate in your household, we hope it is filled with joy, connection and happiness.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term ahead.
