Principal's Update

Mr Brett Van Berkel

As we continue our Lenten journey, we are reminded that our words and actions hold great power. They can either build up or tear down an individual or a community. In a world increasingly characterised by conflict and division, we are called, within our own context, to be people who actively nurture kindness, respect, and understanding.

At Catholic College Sale, this message is closely linked to our Marist Family Spirit: creating a welcoming, nurturing environment where members connect like a loving family. This is fundamental to who we are and who we aim to become. We hope that every student who enters our gates not only experiences this spirit but also takes on the challenge of living it, during their time with us and beyond.

In partnership with you, our parents and carers, we share the responsibility of nurturing faith-filled citizens of the future young people who choose respect and contribute positively to our world. This is something we strive to model and foster each day.

Year 7 – 2027 Enrolments

Our Year 7 2027 enrolments close today, and I encourage any current or prospective families you may know to ensure their applications have been submitted. Once again, we have experienced strong demand for places at our beautiful College. Our diverse range of learning opportunities, individualised pathways, and commitment to the growth of every student continue to make Catholic College Sale the school of choice in our region.

Master Plan Update

We are pleased to share progress on several exciting developments across the College.

Our new Training Restaurant is nearing completion, with handover scheduled for 30 March. This facility will offer an authentic, real-world learning environment for students studying hospitality, and we look forward to welcoming you in the future to enjoy the food, service, and learning that will take place in this space.

As our College continues to expand, it is vital that our facilities develop to meet the demands of modern learning. Tender submissions for the St Patrick’s Stage 2 refurbishment will be finalised next week, with redevelopment set to start in mid-Term 2. As shown in the images below, this is a major project that will create modern, adaptable learning spaces designed to support our students well into the future.

Looking further ahead, the architectural firm Y2 will lead the development of the Catholic College Sale 2027–2037 Master Plan. Y2 has worked closely with the College since the early 2000s and brings extensive experience across many Marist schools. They are well placed to guide our vision for the next decade.

As part of this process, Y2 will seek input from parents and the wider community regarding your aspirations for the College’s built environment. A survey will be shared in the coming weeks, and we strongly encourage your participation. Further information will be provided shortly.

Looking Ahead – Marist Basketball

We wish our Marist Basketball teams every success as they travel to Perth to compete in the Marist National Basketball Competition, hosted by Newman College. Our students consistently perform exceptionally well against much larger schools, often contending for finals. Last year, both our boys’ and girls’ teams finished third, and we hope they can build on this success, perhaps even returning home with a championship, which would be a remarkable achievement.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of Catholic College Sale and the partnership we share in the education and development of your children.

God bless,
