First Aid

Wound care and first aid at Kalinda Primary School 

• Families can access what care has been given to their child in Compass ( under the child's profile, Chronicle)

• Cuts, grazes, and scratches are only cleaned with water or saline at school, then dried and covered. (This is in accordance with Department of Education guidelines)

   We ask all parents to check the wounds and further clean them if necessary when at home. Any area actively bleeding will be covered. If your child is allergic to band-aids, please let the school know, or provide alternatives.

• Head knocks - all parents will be contacted via text (as per Department of Education regulations). If the situation or health of your child changes, we will contact you via phone call. 
• We are unable to apply general sports tape to prior injuries. This needs specialist training, and incorrectly applied tape can cause other injuries.
