Principal's Message

By Jo Jolly

Hello everyone and welcome to the windy and rainy end of week 6! We’ve had a big couple of weeks here at Parkhill, with our students participating in the basketball 5/6 round robin, many VSSS performances and of course the Trivia Night, it has been a very busy middle of term, with many upcoming events to look forward to.

Building and grounds update

Last week, builders and architects were onsite briefly, and Michelle and I managed a walkaround visit with them. They are still awaiting some materials to finalise the back BBQ shelter area as well as finishing up the landscaping, most likely due to wind up at the end of term.  A big thank you in advance for the B&G group who this weekend will be spreading mulch, painting and re-sanding areas in our playground, as well as the community garden veggie patch workover.

Traffic

Just a reminder to everyone that the council have been around our school recently and have issued some infringement notices. Be mindful that the front of the school is strict a 2-minute drop and go zone (meaning the car cannot be left unattended), along with adhering to the school speed limits during peak drop off and collection times. The DDA temporary parking requires drivers who need it to display a current DDA tag: please make sure this is on your dashboard if you need to park here.

OSHC

If you are thinking about registering with TheirCare, now is a great time to try out the after-school clubs for free! As you know, TheirCare are still looking to strengthen their program here, and any new enrolments for before and aftercare will be welcomed.

Staffing for 2027

As you all know, Mrs A (Bianca) will be leaving us at the end of term to start family leave. We are happy to announce that Amelia Scalzo will be taking over in the grade for the remainder of the year and working in 1/2 next year. This is a big win for us as Amelia is very familiar with our 1/2 students and families. We look forward to welcoming her to the Parkhill community.

PFA success at Trivia night

What a fantastic event last Saturday night was; yet another great Trivia Night organised by Lih, Iona, the PFA and of course the Trivia Queen Trish K! A massive thank you for all your time spent organising and putting together what was a great evening and raised over 9,000 for our school!  Although the teacher table didn’t quiet rise to the challenge of winning this year, we move substantially up the leaderboard from last year. There’s always the challenge of 2027 ahead!

Again, a big thank you to all our volunteers who have been working on the concert, B&G working bees, VSSS and the Trivia Event: your work is greatly appreciated by students and staff and makes Parkhill the great community we are.

Enjoy your weekend everyone -
