National Careers Week: Igniting Futures!
What an electrifying start to National Careers Week! Our hallways have been buzzing with "what-if's" and "could-be's" following a massive day of discovery.
Yesterday, Tuesday, May 12th, our Year 9 and Year 11 VM students headed out to the South Eastern Career and Try a Trade Expo. It wasn't just an excursion; it was a deep dive into the world of possibility! From the sparks of traditional trades to the cutting-edge tech of emerging industries, our students were right in the thick of it.
Highlights from the Expo
The energy was contagious as students moved from stall to stall. Here’s a snapshot of the day:
- Many students got their hands dirty (literally!) at the "Try a Trade" stations, testing out skills they never knew they had.
- Our cohorts engaged with industry professionals, asking the tough questions about what a "day in the life" actually looks like.
- It’s safe to say no one came home empty-handed! Students returned loaded with flyers, brochures, and plenty of merchandise to remember the day by.
Why It Matters
Exposing our students to pathways they might never have considered is a vital part of their journey. Whether it’s a career that aligns with their core values or a newfound passion for a niche industry, we hope they walked away with a sense of curiosity and confidence.
A Note for Families: We hope the journey didn't end at the school gates! This is the perfect time to chat at home about the experiences and pathways that caught their eye. These conversations are the first steps toward making informed, exciting choices about their futures.
