Welcome to our first newsletter for Term 2!
It was wonderful to see the much-needed rain last week – here’s hoping there’s more to come this week! Despite the chilly weather, we were still able to squeeze in our athletics carnival last Thursday. One of the many highlights was the annual Jackson Clarke sprint. We look forward to sharing photos of the day shortly on Facebook and in our next newsletter edition. Mr Cook, who as usual did an amazing job of organising the carnival, will also announce the age champions and winning house at tomorrow’s assembly.
In this edition, we hope you enjoy the great photos and account of the Year 7 camp – a fantastic opportunity for Year 7 students to build teamwork and really get to know each other. Our Stage 6 Canberra excursion is also fast approaching, another wonderful experience greatly supported by the generous bequest, Tenterfield Rotary, and the school. Students who haven’t signed up yet are encouraged to do so as soon as possible.
This edition also features our school captains Jahmal and Roxy’s visit to the State AECG. During their visit, they attended Question Time in Parliament and met with Deputy Premier and Education Minister Prue Car. Jahmal was specifically invited, a great testament to his leadership skills and future potential.
We're also proud to share our fantastic results from the Northern Lamb Competition as well as our continued involvement in various sports. Congratulations to everyone who has represented our school so proudly, and a big thank you to all the staff who make these opportunities possible.
One of the most exciting events this term was the Rewards excursion to the NRL Magic Round in Brisbane. This highly sought-after reward was a great success, with a huge thank to Mr Caisely and Miss Phillips for organising. We will be offering another rewards excursion later in Term 4—hopefully a theme park visit on the Gold Coast. Given the high demand for these rewards, we plan to have more spots available. Eligibility requires excellent attendance (explained absences such as sickness and family emergencies will not count against students) as well as excellent behaviour and effort.
Finally, as the weather gets colder, please ensure students are wearing full school uniform. We do have spare clean hoodies available for students to borrow during the day and will continue to ask students who are not wearing the correct hoodie to change into one of these. Uniforms can be purchased at the canteen and paid for via the Parent App.
Have a great week and hopefully enjoy the rain!
