A Week with Murrundindi

This week the school has had the most wonderful experience with Murrundindi and his son Pallyan. My highlight was student leader, Ellie presenting Murrundindi and Pallyan with a Croydon Hills Primary School Indigenous sports jersey at Monday morning’s Smoking Ceremony. Read more of Ellie’s design here

Head to Assistant Principal Amy Prior’s page for more.

Also, head to Murrundindi’s website to hear more about Murrundindi and his work preserving and sharing the legacy of Victoria's Indigenous people. You can support his mission by purchasing and proudly wearing Murrundini merchandise. I’ve already ordered my Bunjil hoodie!

Farewells and Welcomes

At this time of the year, we begin to farewell staff who are moving on from Croydon Hills Primary School and welcome those who are joining our community in 2024.

It is the ‘end of an era’ as we are farewelling our very much loved and appreciated Administration Officer, Robyn Miller.  Robyn is transitioning to retirement after 17 years in schools and, prior to that, a distinguished career in journalism. Robyn began her work in school offices as Business Manager of Olinda Primary School in 2006 before transferring to Croydon Hills in 2012.  For those who know Robyn, as I will, you’ll miss her great sense of humour, conscientiousness, and unrivalled vernacular when making announcements.

We are also wishing all the best to:

  • Teacher Tanya Chirnside who is transferring to Chirnside Park Primary School for the 2024 school year.
  • Teachers Max Graham (Antonio Park Primary School) and Rob Lewis (Dorset Primary School) as they continue their professional journeys.
  • Education Support staff member Ashleigh Griggs who will begin her teaching career next year at Kew East Primary School.

Thank you to Tanya, Max, Rob, and Ashleigh for your valuable contributions to our community, most notably the children you have influenced in your time at our school.

As well as welcoming back maternity leave staff Laura Kitching and Chelsea Blaha, the school is excited to welcome:

  • Croydon Hills Primary School teacher Will Smith who has been on two years leave teaching in the Northern Territory.
  • Teacher Ashleigh Sweetten, who will join our teaching team, transferring from Templeton Primary School.
  • Former Croydon Hills Primary School teacher Kristy Dixon (Sotiropoulos) back to our school in a part-time capacity whilst on maternity leave from her leadership role at Mullum Primary School.
