School Advisory Council

SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL:
Our School Advisory Council met on Tuesday 2nd September and discussed the following topics:
- 2025 NAPLAN school data was presented to the group. St Mark’s performed above the state average in all areas of NAPLAN in both year 3 and 5.
- MACSSIS Surveys - all families are encouraged to complete the MACSSIS surveys that were sent home a few weeks ago
- Master Plan update - our funding application was not approved so we will now have to consider other options for updating our toilet block.
- Budgetting/Staffing 2026 - preliminary indication of 2026 budgeting from MACS was shared with the SAC
- Bargaining for a new award - staff in Catholic schools in Victoria are currently preparing to bargain for a new workplace award. There is currently a hold up as the two parties cannot agree on the kind of award to bargain under. The IEU would like to bargain under a single entity agreement which gives its members the right to protected action and to work through the Fair Work Commission if bargaining stalls, whilst the CECV would like to bargain and a multi enterprise agreement which would deny those things.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 28th October at 7.30 p.m. in the staffroom.
