Dear Families,
Welcome to our last newsletter for Term 3. It has been a busy last couple of weeks of term that included our wonderful Fathers' Day breakfast organised by the magnificent members of the PA. It was such a lovely celebration of our dads and the breakky was scrumptious. Thanks to Cassie and Frank and all those involved in the set up, pack up and ensuring the event went ahead smoothly. We certainly have a dynamic group of people on our PA who are always looking for new members to join their vibrant team, so please get in touch if you would like to be part of this amazing group.
Our leadership team headed off to the MACS Flourishing Learners Conference at Marvel Stadium on Monday and Tuesday last week, where we were treated to some amazing world renowned international and Australian speakers. MACS is investing heavily into ensuring high quality teaching in all their schools using the explicit teaching model where engagement and high expectations for all, are key features.
On Wednesday last week the 5/6 team headed off to camp at Portsea with our Year 5 students. It was lovely to be able to be part of the experience and spend some fun time away from school with our kids. It was great to see how well our children support and encourage each other and really rise to the occasion and have a go at everything whilst being their best selves. The camp was situated right on the beach and we were able to make the most of the beautiful surroundings and activities on offer.
Over the last couple of weeks Olivia, our Year 3 - 6 Performing Arts Teacher, along with our Performing Arts Captains, Alannah and Oscar, have been organising and running a talent show for both the junior and senior students at St Mark's. We have now come down to the finals of the talent show which were held today. The Junior Talent Show finals were run at recess (11.00 -11.40 a.m.) in the large hall and the Senior Talent Show finals were run at lunch time (1.40 - 2.20 p.m.) in the large hall. It was lovely to see families join us for the finals, to watch their amazingly talented children perform. Winners will be announced on Friday at assembly.
Finally, school ends on Friday at 1.30 p.m. for the term. We will have an assembly commencing at 1.00 p.m. and will start the day with our RUOK? Day Breakfast that all children are invited to attend on the basketball court from 8.30 - 8.50 a.m. There will be chocolate muffins, fruit and juice for the children to have if they would like to when they arrive at school. We will move into our classrooms as usual at 8.50 a.m. where the roll can be marked and bags put away in readiness to celebrate our footy day.
Term 4 will commence on Monday 6th October at 8.50 a.m. for all students.
Have a happy and safe holiday and enjoy some rest and recreation time with your children so that they can recharge their batteries for a great term 4.
In term 4 we will be hosting the Kids Unlimited Chess Club at lucnhtimes on Friday.
Please see the flyer below to book in for the lunchtime club with Kids Unlimited.
