Performing Arts Update

It's almost the end of Term 3 and the start of the term when the Senior School production of Mamma Mia! was in full swing seems like a distant memory. This term has also seen our ensembles performing at the Victorian School Music Festival. Our groups received the following awards: 

• Senior String Orchestra – Gold in the Senior String Orchestra section 
• Corelli String Orchestra – Gold in the Junior String Orchestra section 
• Jazz Ensemble – Silver in the Intermediate Jazz section 
• Concert Band – Silver in the Intermediate Concert Band section 

I would like to congratulate all the staff and students involved in the ensembles that performed. There is always a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure our ensembles perform so well. 

Last week also saw our annual Spring Concert, this again was a fantastic showcase of the ensembles in the Shelford Music Program. Again I would like to thank all of the staff and students involved in putting together a such an enjoyable evening. 

AMEB Theory exam 

On Wednesday 13 September, Shelford is running a day of AMEB theory exams. Students have been working hard getting themselves ready. Whether they are sitting their first exam, or are sitting a high level theory exam, they are all very rigorous and many hours of work will have been put into their preparation by every student. Thank you to Kathryn Pisani, Anya McLeod and Ruth Dixon-Lawrence for their work preparing the students.

A big thank you to all the students that put themselves forward to perform, as well as the instrumental teachers working hard behind the scenes. I would also like to thank Kathryn Pisani for her work accompanying all the students, which is no small feat!
