Bangarra Rekindling Program (2024)
Greater Shepparton Lighthouse is bringing Bangarra’s Rekindling Program to Shepparton in 2024. The program, run by Bangarra, Australia’s leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performing arts company will see a small number (up to 30) of First Nations youth (12-18yo) from Secondary Schools within Greater Shepparton connect with local elders to ‘rekindle’ connection to culture through sharing community history and stories. The aim of the program is to strengthen culture and community connection and develop performance art skills in young mob so the next generation can explore stories and have the ability to translate those stories into dance, supporting the continuation of culture.
Bangarra will be in Shepparton for 2x days in October (19th & 20th) to meet with elders and potential program participants to discuss details of the 2024 program.
If you or someone you know is interested, please talk to your Koorie Educator now to find out how to register.
*Student workshop – Thursday 19 October at 10am at Rumbalara Elders Facility
The workshop will go for 1.5 hours with a light lunch provided
