Automotive Taster Day

Seventeen students from Years 9-12 experienced an Automotive Taster Day organised by GMLLEN on Thursday 12 October. Many thanks to Darryl Twitt Motors and Graham Thompson Motors for allowing our students to experience a day in the life of a mechanic.

GOTAFE staff spoke to students over lunch about course offerings they can undertake while still at school or as an Apprentice. They also had a Tesla onsite for students to understand the new technology of electric cars.

GMLLEN’s virtual reality glasses gave students a feel of what it is like to work in an automotive workshop. While Headstart School Based Apprenticeship coordinator Carolyn Curnow spoke to the students about commencing an apprenticeship while continuing their studies at secondary school.

The students had an inspiring day of learning all things automotive and the future of the industry.
