School Concert News
Parent Information Booklet
This is your one stop shop for details regarding overall organisation for the concert. A copy of this was shared with all parents and carers via Compass last week. If you haven’t already, please make sure you have a read of the concert information booklet, as that will help put you in the picture and save confusion. A copy of this booklet is attached below.
Speak to your child’s teacher if you have questions related to the specifics of your child’s act.
Purchasing Tickets
Thanks to everyone for supporting your children and the school by purchasing tickets. The Friday night performance is likely to sell out in the coming week, so act quickly if this is your preference. Don’t forget that the Thursday Matinee is a great option for grandparents and extended family members. It can also be a great option for parents attending with small children.
Tour of the Concert Venue
All parents with a child that may be anxious about the concert are welcome to bring them along to a tour of the concert venue (Founders Hall, Federation University) this Wednesday at 5pm. We offered this at the previous concert and had quite a few come along. Those that attended said it was helpful for their child. Please don’t enter the building before 5pm. Will Georgiou and Narelle Sullivan will meet families at the front doors at 5pm sharp.
Student Absence – If your child will be absent for one or more of the concert performances, it’s good for your child’s teacher to know, so please get in touch if this is the case for you.
Parent Helpers
Thanks to parents who have already volunteered to help in a range of ways. We’re still looking for parents to help with the roles listed below. If you can help with any of these, please give the office a call and put your name down. You don’t have to commit to helping for all 3 performances and we welcome anyone that can help, even if for just one performance.
- Helping at front of house - This will include checking tickets sending guests in the right direction.
- Ushering guests to seats - Once guests arrive at the appropriate door, our ushers will show guests to their seats.
- Helping with the BBQ - Our canteen team will be running a BBQ outside of the venue at the evening performances. Helpers will be needed to cook and serve.
- Traffic management - Particularly for the evening performances, we need 2 people positioned in University Drive to send people in the right direction.
- Back of stage helpers - As you would expect, most teachers will be looking for up to 2 parents to help back stage. These parents will help to supervise students, but at times will assist with the range of tasks that are required for the kids to be ready to perform and then pack up after performing. Nominated back of stage helpers will need a working with children check and these will be the only parents back of stage. If you would like to help out with this, please speak directly to your child’s teacher.
Back Stage Helpers – Teachers will be organising a back stage parent helper or 2 (if needed). Only those designated parent helpers will be allowed back stage and each of those will require a Working With Children Check. This is designed to keep your children safe and is part of our commitment to providing a ‘Child Safe’ environment for your children. Our designated helpers will be given a ‘Parent Helper’ lanyards for easy identification.
Please rest assured that we are thoroughly planned for the concert in terms of keeping children safe, which includes:
· Supervision of corridors and toilets.
· A process for collecting students being dropped off to evening performances.
· Managing medical conditions and the provision of first aid.
Please Note: The messages regarding parents going back stage does not stop parents collecting students early if that is their wish. Simply go to the door of the relevant holding room and ask to speak to your child’s teacher. Making arrangements prior to the concert is a great idea.
