Grade 5/6 Halls Gap Camp
Wow, what an experience the 5/6 Halls Gap Camp was! Our Grade 5/6 students last week joined the Buninyong Grade 5/6 students on an incredible 3-day adventure, full of team work, problem solving, bravery and a whole lot of fun. It was amazing to see students step out of their comfort zone and take on lots of different challenges and experiences, including long hikes, high ropes, archery, team building and orienteering. All students were also tasked with looking after their dorm rooms, setting up for meal times, as well as cleaning up and doing the dishes.
The 3 days were filled with smiles and laughter, along with plenty of tired heads on return to Buninyong!
Scotsburn Assembly this Friday
Our next Scotsburn Assembly will be this Friday in the shed from 3pm. We look forward to seeing lots of parents in attendance!
Concert Run Through Next Week - Start at Buninyong - Next Tuesday August 18
Next Tuesday, August 18, we are required to head down to Buninyong to perform a concert run through at the bowling club, in front of Mr Skilbeck, Mrs Morgan and Mr Muldoon. This is an important step in terms of having us prepared to perform on stage.
To allow this to happen, we will need to start the day at Buninyong, meeting in the courtyard at 8:45am. We will then bus back to Scotsburn for the rest of the day, and finish with regular Scotsburn 3:30pm dismissal.
School Concert Information
With the concert now only just over two weeks away, we want to make sure that parents and families have all the required information. Please familiarise yourself with all the information below, as well as the parent handbook which has been sent out via Compass.
We are getting very excited to share our Scotsburn performance, The Land of Mythical Creatures!
Backstage Volunteer Roster
Thanks to those who have already put their names down to volunteer backstage. We still have a couple of spots to fill, particularly on Thursday night. If you are able to help out, please add your name to the link below.

Paper Mache Workshop
Next Monday afternoon (August 17), Mrs Morgan will be holding a paper mache workshop from 2pm in the Art room at Scotsburn. Anyone who can pop along to help out, Mrs Morgan would love to see you there!
Costume Requirements
Below is an outline of where we are currently at with our costumes. Please have a look at the Supply from home” column, and if there are any concerns or questions, please let us know. We are hoping that almost all items that we are asking to provide from home can be sourced around the house, as we don’t expect families to go out and buy too many items. As you can see, we have been able to source most of the costume items from school.
From this week, we ask that students bring in to school any items that they have for their costumes. We will have labelled bags in the shed where the costumes will be stored up until performance time.

A reminder that if you have a child who you think would benefit from going on a tour of the concert venue, on Wednesday (August 12) at 5pm we have a tour of our concert facility, Founders Hall at Federation University. This tour is an opportunity for any parent with an anxious child to come along and help familiarise their child with the venue. Scotsburn Intercampus Travel At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day. We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements. If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher. |
